Swanzal Kak Kapoor has a Bachelors Degree in Architecture from the Institute of Environmental Design at Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat and also completed three semesters of a Masters Program in Urban Design at SPA Delhi. Her work experience includes training with Ashok B Lall and Revathi & Vasant Kamath architects. She has a deep interest in Ecology, Sustainability, Civic Action, Architectural History and the Arts. She wears many hats and co-founded i am gurgaon in 2009, a citizens’ initiative to engineer change through community participation and improve the quality of life in Gurgaon. She also co-founded the Spa Singers, a community singing ensemble, writes poetry & paints. She believes that each of us should ‘be the change we wish to see in the world’. Her architectural and interior work celebrates craft, embodied emotions, ecological consciousness and collaborative synergy.
Atal Kapoor co-founded saka architects and had an undergraduate degree from the Institute of Environmental Design at Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat. He was a visionary who was inspired by ecological resource management and by the clean lines of modernistic architecture. He was a consummate innovator and was in his element at architectural sites.He initiated the idea of the Aravali Biodiversity Park, Gurgaon and was awarded by the Govt. of Haryana for his innovative work in designing the infrastructure in the park. It will remain his enduring legacy to the city of Gurgaon .He had a keen interest in water and waste management and was a keen photographer and music buff. He passed away on Aug 8th 2015 after a 19 month battle with cancer.
Ashish Saxena is a senior architect at SAKA and has over a decade of work experience. He is a 2005 graduate of the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi and is currently pursuing an Advance PG Diploma in Renewable Energy. He has been teaching at the JP Institute of Fashion Technology and has a natural flair for design. His area of focus includes creative construction detailing and sustainable architecture.
Madhavi Balwani graduated from Pillai’s College of Architecture and grew up in Bhopal. She is inspired by the works of Laurie Baker , Geoffrey Bawa and Louis Kahn. Her instinct is to create spaces that promote harmony between human habitation and the natural world. She enjoys crafting, reading and cooking.
Eshani Khandpur is a young architect with a B.Arch Degree from the Chandigarh College of Architecture. She has a keen interest in landscape design, heritage conservation and the tectonic aspects of design. She is inspired by the work of Tadao Ando, Le Corbusier and Charles Correa and wishes to understand how cutting edge technology is shaping the architecture of tomorrow.
